We are one of the few counties in FL with an active environmentally-sensitive land acquisition program, Volusia Forever. Through the first Volusia Forever (2001-2021) and its predecessor, the Endangered Lands Program of 1986, we’ve preserved more than half of our portion of the corridor. Our priority areas for further acquisition are within the EGN priority 1 and 2 areas, which also define the 2001-established Volusia Conservation Corridor (basically the same thing as our portion of the FL Wildlife Corridor). We are so far ahead in conserving the Volusia Conservation Corridor (aka Wildlife). We have an effective, award-winning program and it needs to enjoy continued support.
